The Best Blogs by Wedding Businesses 2012 – Top 10

Late last year we announced our search for the best blogs written by wedding businesses.

best blog awards 2012

Many thanks to everyone who nominated blogs for us to look at – after many hours of sifting, we’ve come up with our favourites. And here they are……

Our top 10 (in alphabetical order):

Allison Barnhill Designs

allison barnhill blog

What we loved:  Allison’s passion for her stationery is clear and she writes about her clients in an interesting way. She’s also blogging about her own wedding renewal at the moment and sharing lots of great details about her planning.

Andrew Geoghegan Jewellery

andrew geoghagan blog

What we loved: Although weddings are only part of Andrew’s business we wanted to include this blog as it’s a great example of a blog which is very tightly focussed on the business and it’s products. And still manages to be interesting and readable. The competition for bloggers is also a great idea for promoting the blog and getting links!

A Cake to Remember

cake to remember blog

What we loved: As well as showcasing her own work, Kara gives some great insights into running a cake business and is generous in giving advice and sharing techniques with other bakers. She’s also not afraid to express an opinion and highlight some of the undesirable practices in her industry!

Cedarwood Weddings

cedarwood weddings blog

What we loved: The only wedding venue to make our final judging list, Cedarwood’s blog gives a real feel for the gorgeousness of the weddings they hold.

Hidden Garden Floral Design

hidden garden floral design blog

What we loved: Amy works with some of the most super-cool and glamorous events and venues, but her blog has a friendly, approachable style and she adds a sense of humour too.

Lucy Ledger Loves

Lucy Ledger Stationery Blog

What we loved: Although this is largely a personal blog, telling Lucy’s own (and her business) story, she has a great way to showcase her work for clients AND get a testimonial by using a Q&A format. It’s also one of the most beautifully designed blogs we found.

I Heart Flowers

I Heart Flowers blog

What we loved: Sophie’s informal writing style combined with her obvious love of what she does. Plus she manages to keep her blog very focussed on flowers without being repetitive.

O’Brien Photo

obrien photo blog

What we loved: Kate’s personality just shines through this blog. Within moments of starting to read you really feel you know her and Pat. So many wedding photography blogs are all about showcasing the images, but this one showcases the photographers – and the pictures are great too.

Robyn Pattison

robyn pattison celebrant blog

What we loved: Wedding celebrant Robyn writes about every wedding as if it’s the best ever. Her enthusiasm and commtiment to her couples comes over clearly in her blog.

The Wedding Genie

wedding genie blog

What we loved: We were looking for a wedding planner who didn’t try to write a more general wedding blog (not that that’s wrong, just not what we were looking for). Julie’s blog features loads of great wedding planning advice and only features weddings she has worked on herself, so you know what she can achieve.

There were some great blogs which didn’t quite make the top 10. Next week we’ll bring you the runners up.

Congratulations to our winners – we’ll be sending you a nice shiny badge to put on your blogs.
